Low alloyed high speed steel refers to the high speed steel with tungsten (=W+1.8Mo)content of 6.50-11.75%.Low alloyed high speed steel has characteristics of high carbon content and alloyed with secondary hardening alloying elements replacing the expensive elements such as tungsten and molybdenum. Hardness can reach HRC63-65 after quenching and tempering. High temperature strength and wear resistance of the steel is slightly reduced but it can still be applied for the tool materials with low cutting speed.
